First 10 Years
This Zine, compiled of pages made by individual Freedom House scholars and junior coaches, provides highlights from Freedom House’s mission and history during its first ten years, from 1949 to 1959. In the collection, you will find pages celebrating the founders, Otto and Muriel Snowden, the close links built in Boston communities, a focus on racial integration in education from a young age, on working with interfaith and interracial coalitions, innovative fundraising efforts (such as the Ebony Fashion Show), and the rededication of the building at 14 Crawford Street after a devastating fire. Throughout, you can see how Freedom House grew in size and became the heart of the community.
